ive called people from the internet a couple times. ive met three people from icq in the past out of curiousity. all went well but i dont talk to any of them anymore. there are maybe 2 or 3 people ive known for 4years that i met online, but the basis of our relationship is online chat, but ive spent hours on the phone with some people. it was kinda strange at first but eh...you'll know pretty quickly if you prolly wont ever talk to that person again heh.
its really awesome to have people to chat with online but it is way different than a real friendship.
i think you can become close to people you meet online, it's just a different type of relationship(therefore different type of 'closeness'), until you meet in person..
Hell, I met half my girlfriends on the internet. Other than the fact that we eventually broke up, they seemed fine to me! Not big fat trolls or anything.
