First off, and yes I have to make a point of saying this, Sailor Jerrys rum is FUCKING HORRID!

There, I feel better now: and now on with other things.

When I mad the decision to get back into magic, I had pictured going into the traditional stuff, and I still will, but there is another kind of magic that is, surprisingly, of great interest to me. I ran across a manuscript for a sance (for lack of a better term) magic act by a magician named Docc Hilford called, Through the Mountains of Madness and I was immediately hooked. Ive started working on a sance act called The Sance of Isabella Price. I found an antique stationary store online and bought a photograph of an unknown woman who will be playing the part of the purely fictional Isabella Price. Her back story so far is that she lived in the mid 1800s. She was engaged to a man that was killed in the Civil War. After his death she became obsessed with communicating with the dead. Last year I bought a small chest that belonged to her that contained some of her belongings, one of which was her personal guide to conducting a sance that would summon her spirit. Thats where I get stuck. I want this to be more than a bunch of scary things that happen during a sance, I want this to be a real piece of theater that has a plot. Im thinking something is revealed about her death (currently I have her committing suicide on the day of what would have been her wedding) or somehow being reunited in death with her beloved, or something that has some real dramatic value. Once I can get the basic storyline figured out I can start working on the effects. I have some ideas on what Id like to do but so far anything substantial has eluded me. Im going to if my local, and quite shitty, magic shop has a book called Sance; its a compilation of a quarterly magazine of the same name that was devoted to spirit magic. Ive heard about it and have also heard lots of good things about it. Hopefully it will give me a few good ideas. This is one of those times where I really wish my magician's group was approved.

In other news I got my broken tooth yanked on Friday. Well, yanked isnt quite accurate. They had to cut the fucking thing out. When you see your dentist have to grab a scalpel, well, it makes you wish you wore a pair of depends. Honestly, the entire procedure didnt hurt, it was just a trifle bit upsetting, and yes I really mean this, left me feeling just a bit violated. On the plus side, I got a bottle of 500mg tablets of Vicodin. And yes, that helps.
