You said Oingo Boingo, Bjork, and Concrete Blonde in the same sentence... And then you simply mention climbing, so... Why would I not want to be your friend? lol... Thanks for stopping by my journal. You had asked about climbing in Illinois, and well, if you're not an indoors enthusiast (clearing throat) then you have two options within the state... Numero Uno would be the Mississippi Palisades State Park in the NE corner of Illinois, right outside of Savannah. The only other choice would be the Shawnee National Forest down South near Champaigne and all that noise, which is a five and a half hour drive for me versus a three hour drive to the Palisades, so you can just guess which of the two wins the weekend war, lol. Never have had the time to go to Shawnee (and if I did, I'd be out west instead,) but the Palisades does offer pretty much every climbing opportunity you could imagine. There are a few sport routes (which are highly overpopulated), and there is some trad, but mostly toprope friendly, as well as of course, endless bouldering possibilities. The only indoor climbing near me is Upper Limits in Bloomington, which is also the only place left to buy gear within a two hour radius. (sad, sad, sad...) Ok, so I am just rambling with excitement, it is good to meet a fellow passionate climber... Will talk your ear off some other time, lol! Take care, and I hope your day is lovely!
