I was never THAT good at hockey...but not bad either. I played 8 years as a kid and some more a few years ago.
Thanks for the kind words on the illo... It's all digital, although I sometimes do design sketches in ballpoint and then scan them and do a more finished piece....
Ok..so...
not long ago (a few months)...somehow I ended up in the position of purchasing some mighty beanz. I can't remember the specifics. I think a small person may have seen some and wanted them, or gotten them as some sort of prize. Of course I was instantly fascinated. They are called "mighty beanz" for fuck's sake. Mighty Beanz? Tiny mighty beans with faces? Come on. It hasn't occurred to you that this is a rather odd product?
When I was 15...half of my left foot was blown off in the seedy underbelly of my hood....up until that point...I could have still played for awhile...in mish mash of Theo Fluery meets Roy....but that day ended it for me...at least as far as juniors were concerned...I lied to myself and said: "Hey, how big can hockey players get" I have talent...if not all the bones....however, at the age of 15 I learned a good lesson....play games for sport...and develop the mind for life....I spent the summer writing about pain and drawing.......and I did in fact have a cool scar.....which might have gotten me a little closer to a thing we call sex....amazing what happens to a body under trauma....
Hope you like bloody steak and high balls.....looking forward to a night under the stars....
The funny thing about Roy ( after years of watching him) was that to this day I think his EGo stopped more pucks then anything attached to his body....
Long story, but I will get around to telling it soon.
And yes I did get your excellent mix CDs, and ever since they have been my personal sword of Damocles, hanging over me with a sharp-pointed guilt that says "Reciprocate or DIE!!!!!"
I hope all goes well with the surgery. Thank heaven (or Las Vegas) it wasn't the sketching hand, though.
I've been on a This Mortal Coil kick lately, too. I noticed that turn of phrase in your message on my journal and knew it had to be intentional.
Someday soon my good man, we shall share another pint.
