Sliming presta-valve tubes requires minor surgery. Intentionally puncturing the tube, injecting the slime, then patching the tube ordinarily. It actually IS possible to remove the stem of a presta tube... but the cut-and-patch method is easier, in my opinion.
I will most likely get a local job at some future point. I'm not there yet, however.
"Wait wait" is, fortunately, one of the NPR programs carried by Sirius. In general, I guess my only real disappointment is that the two Sirius NPR channels do not include "All Things Considered" and "Morning Edition". Pretty much everything else I enjoy IS there. Just seems like there's a bit too much Talk of the Nation and On The Media. They must have each of those going 4 times a day. *yawn*
I don't assume any superiority of lack of faith over those who do have it. My opinion is pretty cut and dry, however. That most war and conflict throughout human history has been over religious differences. And many of the more popular religions in the world appear to be more about control, subservience, and prostration than anything else. It's often used as a crutch for not having any better explanation for things. We can't explain it... so it must be magic. Magic... divinity... what's the difference in practical terms?
(The underlying theme of the "Stargate" movie fascinates me, since it suggests that technology... when advanced enough... more or less is indistinguishable from magic or... divine power.)
I feel that many humans have an innate need to believe that some great power cares for them, watches over them, listens to them, maybe even has a plan for them. Religion provides the proverbial security blanket and pacifier. While I suppose these things are possible, I find them incredibly unlikely. It'd be a lot more likely that we're a fortunate accident based on favorable circumstances.
I have a local friend with whom I frequently discuss topics of faith and religion. In many ways, I envy her ability to believe. I've even tried to, in the past. But if I am honest with myself... I simply cannot find the faith. And I refuse to go through the motions and be a hypocrite simply because most people do.
Good luck with that software, it'll be interesting to see some of the places you drive through. Is there a lot of pressure on you? I get the impresssion that interstate truckdrivers in Australia have to work very hard. There was a documentary last year on them and most would do 800 to 1000 kiilometres a day (I think that converts to about 650 miles a day) which would not leave them much rest or recreation time.
Fujiya and Miyagi are great, they formed in Brighton which is where I live.
And everyone with any sense should have favourite videos, clearly some are far superior to others. Michel Gondry, Chris Cunningham and some Mike Mills and Spike Jonze, also Jarvis Cocker's video for Aphex Twin, and the Fourtet video for She Moves She that I can't remember who dierected it...I'll take these over anything else.
