May I offer an historical note of US failures following our tragic 1800’s Civil War? As “Last Samuri” begins it is the time of the US War’s end. Our government became intolerantly imperial thinking we could do no wrong on the World’s stage while allowing our territorial economy to crumble from within. Domination of the indigenous American Indians became the rallying cry as we moved our industrial society ever westward... even so far as to go further westward across the Pacific in attempt to sway Japan’s greedy overlords. We set out on the path of trade domination, sadly much like we are today ~ apparently learning nothing from our past. The vast majority of government influence abroad let the heroes and villains of the Civil War and Indian Wars languish in ignominy. This left a huge portion of the population all alone to find their own ways of psychologically and financially dealing with the future ahead. ~~~ into this melange steps the movie’s main character played by Tom Cruise. I offer this set up to help you understand how such a strong person could find both distaste in his own victory and a desire to learn the most that he can of his supposed villains in the Samuri. . Truly it’s the end of a complete historical epoch ~ the simultaneously tragic end of buchollic tribal frugality across both continents. I hope this all adds context to fill in the timeline continuity.

Every book is a whole world. I always loved to read. When I was about 10, after school I went to the library near the house, read magazines that did not give home and always took 5 books with me when I left. I liked teen books, horror stories, and detective stories. I read one such book per day.
Then one day all the teenage
