Welp, what can I say...I just saved myself about 10, 000 dollars. When I applied for Concordia they looked at my transcript from my last university where I studied for two years. Unfortunately they only gave me minimal credit for that, so out of the 4-year program at Concordia they knocked it down to 3. But still, 2 years spent at Lakehead plus 3 more years in Montreal -- all for an Undergrad degree? So I decided to fuck that, and call Admin. to see if they could look over my credits and re-evaluate the situation. So they transfer me to "Roberto", who is basically a god to me right now. We chatted, I explained, and then we compromised. He pulled up my file, actually took a look at my Lakehead transcripts, and I suppose that sufficed -- b/c 5 minutes later I had yet ANOTHER year shaved off...He switched it to two years!! Sent me a revised letter and everything -- didn't even question my credentials, request any documentations, nothing thorough like that. I thought it was too good to be true, and kept asking him over and over, wondering if this was a joke (and a cruel one at that). But nope, I got an email confirming the revision and a new statement saying that in order to complete my degree I will have to do 60 credits, the equivalent of 2 academic years of full-time study. And after work someone from admissions called me to verify my acceptance there and go over any questions I had. So I wanted to verify this of course, and so she pulled up my file and there it was, right infront of her: two years. That's it, that's all, I'll be graduating as normally expected, in 2008. Most of my time will be spent on purely journalism and language courses and workshops, but man -- I took off an entire YEAR of study, tuition, etc. just like that, all it took was a phone call. I couldn't believe it. Sometimes it really DOES pay off to harass people, and in this case, it saved me about ten grand.
