Well, I am actually pretty bummed out. It didn't really help that today was pretty uneventful and one of our teachers just read out of the book for 80 minutes for a second time in a row. Supposedly action will be taken this time. This class i got fed up and started asking questions about the topic to see how much he actually knew. To his credit, he did know that Japans two natural resources were coal and timber. However, the following two questions were dodged, I didn't know this was a political arena... and the final question which was the nail in the coffin was about a book that had been creating controversy in Japan, (Herbert p. bix's hirohito and the making of modern japan) which I had read this summer. Our textbook which he reads out of said that it had been creating a great deal of controversy in Japan. I asked him to explain more on this topic and share his thoughts on Bix's book. He did not know the book existed, and he said that there was no controversy over it. After that it wasn't necessary to ask any further questions.
After that I wrote an agonizing paper for phil's class. It actually is mildly amusing, (the way I told the story) but otherwise it was pretty dry.
Anyway I am bummed because the Chinese girl who was really cute hasn't e-mailed a time, nor has she replied to my last e-mail. I can't for the life of me figure out why, there wasn't anything that could have possibly be construed as rude or offensive, its just like all contact just ceased for some reason. I went to tea ceremony club and she wasn't there either, but fortunately I got the research done i needed for tea ceremony club so it still wasn't a waste. And the tea was good. I think I'm going to go back next week, even though it really looks almost impossible to do, I can try I guess, but I'm undoubtabely going to be terrible at it.
I missed sports club because I was doing that dumb paper. I feel pretty worthless at the moment :*( I'm not really inclined to send another email, I think its pretty clear that if her response wasn't mailed in like 5 days its not going to come at all. It just confuses me that she gave me her e-mail, and phone number, and said that yes we should get together with some friends and go to coffee, and had asked 3 people if I had a girlfriend, that she would be at least a little interested. I guess that it was... wrong?
Maybe that bad fortune I got at Asakusa was really true. Makes me feel miserable nonetheless.
