Hmmm.... there's usually a lot of good bands playing on New Year's Eve. I usually try and avoid the downtown city action but tat's where the best hotels are. All the hotels are in the touristy spots... there aren't really any in cool spots. but you wanna make sure that yer in SOMA... avoid North Beach, Fisherman's Wharf and anything near the beach.

Avoid the Castro and Civic Center New year's night.

I dunno what's happening that night. I might have a party because I can't stand going out on nights like that because it's amateur night. Or I'll go t my bar, we'll prolly have some trash/garage bands playing.
