Guh. Too many to choose from, But...

In Paris, check out La Poule au Pot on rue Vauvilliers. This is a really old fashion / traditional Les Halles style Bistro and best for late night dining. They serve dinner until 5 or 6 am. Very traditional and yummy French fare.

Just for the fancy schmancy setting, especially in good weather, there is Marly, which is more or less in the Louvre, under the arcade off the square (does that make sense?). It is very nice and posh, definately trendy.

There is a great Moroccan place around the george pompidou center called, I think, Marakesh. I distinctly remember that they gave me big broken chunks of chocolate with my mint tea, and the mint tea had roasted pine nuts floating atop it. Yum...

I have another suggestion or two but I have to dig up journals to get names...

But in London, there is really only one restaurant to mention: It is called Rules a few blocks from Covent Garden on Maiden Lane, and, believe it or not, it is english food! It is supposedly the oldest still-in-bidness rstrnt in London. This place would seem touristy if it wasn't the real thing. It has all the authentic trappings of an old victorian men's club, and the food is excellent. Heavy on things like wild game, pheasent pie, Salmon, oysters, etc... And it has all those wonderful English trappings, including an entire round of cheese for after dessert. They also have a nice, cheap prix fix menu that is either early or late depending on the season. Big Opera / Theatre crowd.

Oh, and by the way, White Must, I think, is just pressings from white grapes that are just about to ferment into wine or are fermenting into it. So, I'm pretty sure, it is just really, really young white wine. I used to know a lot more about such things, but it has been a few years...

As you can tell, I love to travel, eat, drink, etc... And get quite excited about such things. I was just in both Paris and London in November. Possibility of Provence this summer, maybe Prague but I don't think I'll have the money for either. But Next summer, Hungary. But for right now I'm stuck in silly Kent, Ohio.

Welcome! Yeah, Vai is a technical whiz. I saw him in the late 80s and was actualy impressed with the amount of emotion he put into his performance. I had always perceived him as being a note-for-note sacrife-feel-for-technical-prowess type, but he jammed.

I would have loved to have seen him with Robert Fripp (King Crimson) in Mexico and South America last year.

Anyway, hi to SG, and my gf (the lovely matildakat) has just looked over my shoulder and said 'Nice Elmo!'
So fair play - you officially have a nice Elmo.
Is it a tickle-me-elmo?

Sorted.
