Hello my devious little duckies,
So I've been keeping some secrets lately. I figured that today is as good a day as any to reveal one of my mysteries.
As many of you know, I did get a new tattoo. It's beautiful, and the artist who did it had the hands of an angel.
Yes ladies and gentlemen, they are F holes, like those found on most string instruments. This tattoo has been on my mind for years. Originally I was contemplating getting them on my forearms, then I thought about the back of my thighs, and this year I decided it was fitting to get it on my stomach.
It fits, and I'm so happy I finally got it. You see, I am and always have been my own instrument. In voice, weather it be opera, jazz or classical, your entire body is responsible for the sound that comes from the mouth. In dance, weather it be ballet, modern, or burlesque, my body is my instrument and I will have this same instrument until the day I die.
All of us are instruments in one way or another. Your body is your minds instrument. The brain sends signals to your legs for running or walking, to your stomach to let you know you're hungry, or sick. I always saw a kinship in the way our minds work and playing an instrument. Without an artist an instrument is silent and lifeless, much like a human body without a nervous system. Funny,the scene from Dawn of the Dead "Shoot them in the head, you have to destroy the brain." keeps running through my head. Though, my F holes have no relation to zombies.
I got it done in Las Cruces, it was my first time with the artist, and my first time getting any modification outside of where my roots run. Overall, an exciting and fulfilling experience. During the process the artist told me that his uncle was in so much pain when he got his stomach done that he threw up and later passed out. I laughed and said it barely hurt. (Really it was the most pleasurable tattoo I have ever experienced) "Well thanks for making my uncle look like a pussy."
Sorry I held out on you so long about this one, and I know there are secrets that I still have yet to tell. But all good things come with time.
