I think being spontanious (sp?) is important when it comes to being entertained, It is all too easy to be sucked into the usual Friday night rigmarole of watching Ally McBeal, Sex & The City and then bed. Just going out on a whim of an evening has resulted in some of the most entertaining nights of my life.

biggrin once again, you sound suspiciously like me.

this is one of the reasons why i'm a bit of a luddite as far as downloading music goes: it ruins the whole aesthetic experience of risking 13.99 on a band you've never heard before. downloading a few tracks to hear what they're like, takes away the whole experience of record-store lust and impulse buys, which is nothing to be ashamed of, surely?

which is why, i suppose, if you're going to download whole albums, its more ethical to do it to the big guns (and especially Metallica), rather than, say, Chris Murray or your Trachtenburg Family Players. And that way, you still get to keep some of the excitement of getting something new and unusual in the post/record store.

Someone should write a book about this. One that isn't by Nick Hornby.*

*to be fair, I've only seen the film, but despite the fact that John Cusack's in Hi-Fidelity, i still find it a bit disappointing. i used to have a bunch of friends who loved Empire Records, but i'm not convinced that one met my expectations of a record store movie either. i can't think of any others, off-hand confused

I'll have a cup of tea and think about it. robot

I do admit, gaming does suck up the hours at a horribly alarming rate. Traumatron was sitting there going, "The Sims is shit, I don't see the point" and then proceeded to play it for 6 hours straight. Madness.

Nic Sim hasn't dyed her hair yet, because my fucking laptop is buggered and is in the shop being fixed so I can't play it until I get it back. Bu I'm going as GoGo Yubari for Halloween so chances are I'll be dying it balck again before long.

I go for trying new bands, & classical cds with no prev. knowledge of them, but I tend to do it on the cheap, at charity shops & the Record & Video Exchanges (Notting Hill, Camden & Berwick St), or I get them out at the library. It's great for broadening your personal 'playlist'. So far I haven't downloaded any stuff but will do at some point. I just bought a compilation of Bernard Cribbins comedy songs from the early 60's that I came across in HMV for 4. I've heard a few before but didn't know he made so many. I wonder what the early 20-year-olds on the site would make of him biggrin
