Some statistics of my month-long trip to the United States:

- travelled 13,770 miles (about 22,000 kilometers), according to my frequent flyer miles
- that's only about half of what I would need to get to the next frequent flyer level
- visited 6 different time zones, some more than once (Eastern, Central (lay-over), Mountain (lay-over), Arizona, Pacific, Western Europe)
- visited 7 states (NY,...

I was going to go all over Turkey and Greece this coming summer, but then the university trip for the Greece part got canceled over the rioting, and it turned out I didn't have the money at the time anyway. It's ok. I really need a new car instead anyhow.

It looks like I'll be stuck in the New York area untill September 2nd, all the flights were full. Not sure yet how I'm going to afford 5 extra nights here. They told me to call back tomorrow or Monday to see if there are any cancellations, maybe something opens up.

I'm supposed to be flying home out of JFK this Sunday. We'll see how that goes. Current predictions have the path of the storm going right over the airport. Anyone on the East Coast that has a spare couch? tongue

Update: all flights out of the NewYork area on the 28th are cancelled. No available flights on KLM/Delta on the 27th in the Tri-State area, so...

So, yeah, I kind of forgot to take pictures while cooking for Christmas... I made a few things:

Chicken soup
I just made a broth with chicken, roughly chopped fennel, onion, celery, carrots and leeks, and some parsley. Then I ditched the vegetables, plucked the meat off the chicken and by the time dinner came around, I added some new, finely chopped vegetables and heated...

It was Saveme's birthday yesterday. Her kids and I decided to decorate a cake for her. None of us had made one before, so even though it didn't come out perfect, we were still very proud of our work. We had planned on making the cake one colour, but after rolling out the purple we found it just wasn't enough to cover the entire...

What's been stuck in my head all week:

This week was quite relaxing. Since my dad and my brother are in Pennsylvania there are no chores I have to do for them, no fighting and no gazillion phone calls/texts a day. Ahhh. Well, they did call me almost every day so far, but that's far less than usual, and the calls are a lot shorter...

tongue I'm NOT going to forget you crazy. tongue

I work right down the street from the airport so I think I'll just work until 6 that night and then just head over. It's about 5 min down the road. That'll give you time to land and get your stuff together.

Yes, chat, watch Foodnetwork, hang out, whatever we want to do. biggrin

Tara went to the vet today to get fixed. From what I hear, she put up quite a fight. The vet said she had to use gloves to get Tara into and out of her cage, she was hissing and scratching so much. Didn't notice anything when I got home though (my Dad picked her up for me and dropped her off at my place...

I guess an update is due. I took a little break from everything and everyone for a bit, to get my mind in order. Well, I guess I'm ok. I'm really missing my mom, especially with stuff like Mother's Day and my mom's birthday this month. But I'm hanging in there. Her birthday would have been on the 27th, so the following weekend we're doing...

I finally went to the dr today to have my knee checked out. I was walking at Ikea on Saturday and I must have made a wrong move or something because my knee started to hurt really bad. The dr gave me 2 shots, one on the side and one right in the joint, which kinda hurt but it should make my knee better in...

Thank you to everyone for your support and for checking in on me. I'm doing ok, I really am. I think for the most part it hasn't really hit me yet, because I'm too busy taking care of everything (and everyone). I am mighty tired though, haven't really had a full night's sleep in 2 weeks. Hopefully I'll sleep better when I'm back on a...

i am a bit jealous of ikea. i don't really go to ikea without josh as i find it to be WAY too sentimental smile anyhow being in ikea reminds me of laying around on beds with him and kissing, an going there just mostly to get away together, and plan our future. it's far too wonderful to go w/o him makes me sad :/
anyhow how r u?
