Mrs. DeadGuitarist and I had a full Saturday agenda even though only one thing was planned.
Let me start with a quick mention of Friday. We got a refund check of several hundred dollars from one of our creditors. Apparently, we overpaid our account (or I should say the debt management company we hired to help us get mostly out of debt overpaid the account).
On to Saturday...
I bowled in a tournament. It's a charity tournament. Lots of raffle prizes... I won a 5 pound bag of rice. Seriously? A bag of rice as a raffle prize? I'll give it to my brother. He'll be able to use it in his absolutely delicious cooking.
We bowled 4 games. Lane conditions were much drier (not as much oil) as I am accustomed to for the house shot at that particular bowling center, which is also where I bowl league. Still, I averaged 192 for those 4 games, which was only 5 pins below my book/tournament average this year and only 13 pins lower than my highest league average. So no complaints even though it was a struggle. I didn't win any sidepots for high game or doubles. I bought some brackets, but didn't check to see if I made any money on them since I didn't break 200 except my first game and my handicap isn't much. No matter, I still had fun despite struggling to find the pocket consistently.
After the tournament we decided to go see the movie, Life. It was about 3:00 PM when we arrived at the theater, but the next showing wasn't until 4:00 PM. We opted for the 6:50 PM show since we were both hungry.
With plenty of time now, we went to Weiss' Deli for a delicious lunch/dinner (is it linner or is it dunch?). We got black and white cookies to go for dessert. Mrs. DeadGuitarist wanted to get some new sandals and a new purse, so it was off to DSW. She found two purses and two pairs of sandals, and then ordered two more pairs of sandals from Amazon. They are the same as one pair she bought, but DSW only had one color and she wanted additional colors. I wasn't planning to buy anything for myself, but I saw a couple of pairs of hiking/trail shoes that I really liked to wear when I go to places with easy, relatively flat ground walking/hiking like the Clark County Wetlands Park, Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve and the Springs Preserve.
Still had some time to kill, so we headed over to Starbucks for some cool drinks... iced tea for me and iced coffee for her. We sat in the car for a bit talking,. I started to get a little sleepy so Mrs. DeadGuitarist went and got her eyebrows threaded while I took a short nap. I had the windows open. Just before Mrs. DeadGuitarist was done, some guy riding a bike passed by and woke me up.
"Hey, are you ok?"
"Yeah, I'm ok."
"Oh good! I thought maybe you OD'd or something."
"Nope, I'm good."
Although I was slightly annoyed I was woken up from my nap before Mrs. DeadGuitarist returned, it was rather nice of him to check and kind of amusing too.
Went back to the theater, got our snacks and settled into our seats. We didn't know much about the movie. The trailer we saw on TV looked interesting and we heard Ryan Reynolds was very good. Well, if we had known it was a space thriller/horror movie a la Alien, we would not have gone. it's just not the type of movie we typically go see or enjoy.
SPOILER ALERT! If you haven't seen the movie and are planning to, do not click to reveal the spoiler.
We left home around 8:30 AM and got back around 9:30 PM. I'd say that was a full Saturday.
Next up? This Saturday we are heading out to Death Valley for some photography and easy hiking.
Stay Tuned...
