niobe:
You shouldn't. smile
dholokov:
That is awesome!

happy new years to you too, all the best in 2009!
otoki:
5th-10th, I'm pretty sure. We might leave before the 10th if we don't like the club.
otoki:
Understandable.

Did you have any other recommendations for gourmet-type food in Fargo? My friend and I are uneducated foodies: we like fancy food, but we don't know much about ittongue
otoki:
Moorhead MN?
otoki:
How many minutes would that drive be? I love middle eastern food (rather, I have tried an loved food from Afghanistan, Lebanon, Turkey, and a few other places I can't remembertongue)
otoki:
Oh, also, my trip just got pushed back a week. My friend who was going with me got her hand bitten by a dogeeek
otoki:
Sounds great. I'll look it up before I leave.
otoki:
That would be great. I think we'll call you after working the first night so we'll have a better idea of what's going on.
wsoxfan:
I'm so sad about the tragic news concerning our mutual friend SocietysPliers. He was a good friend and a true giver. He had a heart of gold.
wsoxfan:
He and I became friends relatively recently. It didn't take me long to realize what a great person he was.

As far as music goes. Our tastes weren't all that similar. Believe it or not, I'm mostly into r&b and hip-hop. Strange, but true, especially the hip-hop part, considering that I'm an old geezer of 61. I used to amaze my daughters' friends with my knowledge of that type of music. None of their dads had any clue about anything like that.
wsoxfan:
It feels good to be proud to be an American again.
otoki:
Maybe I brought the cold with metongue

I'll definitely tell you when I'm headed back up.
wsoxfan:
How's everything? I have to tell you, every time I run into a comment about you by someone, it's filled with praise for your good qualities. That speaks volumes about who you are.

Hope all is going well.
wolfgarden:
Yeah, I'm ridiculously excited about Watchmen. I just hope some of the rumors about them changing major plot points aren't true. D: That would be really disappointing.

I'm just confused as to why Americans don't call politicians more often on being asshats in their speeches. It makes me sad.
wolfgarden:
This is true, although the level of ignorance that accompanies tuning them out doesn't help the state of our government much. D: I wouldn't mind so much that people tune out politicians if they actually knew about the issues, but most people are so out of touch with this stuff that it will be hard to fix anything. Blah. I can say that I've seen a real increase in interest in politics lately, though. When things get bad enough, people tend to band together and start working, which is nice.

And I heard they tried to turn Dr. Manhattan into a bad guy, but I'm hoping that's just a silly rumor. I heard someone say they made it look like he was working with Veidt, which is not going to be cool, if that's the truth. I have faith in Zach Snyder, though; he seems like he'll stay true to the story.

36 hours until showtime. *bubbles with anticipation*
wolfgarden:
I've actually lived in Wisconsin since I was three, but I was born in Illinois and lived near my grandmother with my parents originally, lol. I only really started paying attention to politics when I was junior year of high school, which was only two years ago, because it was getting close to the time that I could vote. I figured I should probably catch up. But state politics? Hm, not so much. I'm kind of...a little out of touch with anything but LGBTQ rights in the sense of the State. I do think our state is kind of failing in the way of education funding, though. There are so many public schools near where I went to high school, including my high school, that have had to cut programs. I won't say it's all the state because these administrators are just...complete idiots. None of them know how to run a business, which is what a school needs: someone who can properly apportion funds, but I do feel as though the state isn't doing much to help the schools.

Of course, Illinois public high schools require gym every semester for all four years, which sucks because you can't pass school without passing gym. I know it's one of the most obese states, but come on, it's not all about exercise. If these kids are playing kickball for an hour a day, then going home and eating chips and playing video games, gym isn't going to save them from health issues. It's such a waste of money there; they could really be putting that elsewhere. Maybe that will change without Blago, though.

And thanks, I'm excited about Whitewater; I think I've been accepted, but for some reason, my high school transcript didn't make it to the admissions office with my other stuff. I am glad my current university sent my transcript, though, because I know a girl who transferred at semester and our university never sent her transcript until after she went in twice to request it. They kept claiming they lost the envelope containing it.

Ugh, transfer nightmares.
wolfgarden:
Ahah, oh how I love The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. Colbert's Christmas was a truly inspiring musical journey all should have the privilege to embark upon.

XD My dad and I share a love of the show and the Americone Dream ice cream. But I digress.

I'm at Carroll University in Waukesha enrolled as an English major with literature emphasis, but I want to take Whitewater's screenwriting classes since I've been thinking about getting into film. My uncle offered me something of an official position as editor on his next novel, which is really exciting since he wants to get a literary agent and push for serious publishing rather than the independent publishing he did on the first one. If you couldn't tell, I'm really into writing.

What do you do?
wolfgarden:
I got accepted, got into my first choice of registration date (April 9th, the very first date), now I just need to send in my housing application. Hopefully, I'll get a single room.

I loved Watchmen; I mean, I would have liked to see the book in its entirety in film, but I know that's impossible. I think they did a really nice job with the adaptation and changed things only when necessary. I can't wait for the director's cut. D: I also really want to get the mockumentaries they did of the Minutemen and the "Crimebusters." XD Seriously, Captain Metropolis, there had to have been a better name. That always made me laugh; it was like he was trying to push for the more wholesome side of superheroes in a not-so-wholesome age.

I did succumb to my fangirl temptations and started writing a Comedian fanfiction. Nothing wacko, just...eh. I feel as though I've betrayed myself, lol. Not my finest moment; but someone favorited it on DeviantArt, so now I'm sort of obligated. D: Gah.
wsoxfan:
Long time no speak. How are you?
wsoxfan:
It's always good to hear from you. Sounds like things are going pretty well, all things considered.

The way I feel, I'd choose to go to Europe, just to be anywhere but here for a change. I hope you choose the option that's truly best for you. My friend Lyrical moved to Birmingham, England about two months ago. I miss spending time with her, but wish her only the best.

Speaking of Europe, I'm sure you weren't aware that I was born in Salzburg, Austria. My parents and I came to the U.S. when I was 2 years old. My younger daughter used to encourage me to go back to see where I was born. I never used to even consider it. Based on the way I've been feeling lately, a trip to Austria doesn't sound so bad. Maybe I see it as an escape.

I have no doubt that you'll do a great job on your thesis. You've always impressed me as being very bright and having both feet on the ground, not to mention being a good guy.. I predict great things for you.
velvet_petal:
Happy birthday DannydMc! Wow, it does sound like you have had an eventful few months. I'm glad your finger is healing up. Sounded painful.
lembow:
Happy Birthday! smile
limowreck:
Happy birthday, homeboy.
