Off to work, then out of town for a day.
Thoughts . . . . rain is refreshing. After a summer of nasty heat with very little respite, the change is welcome. The vernal equinox is always a time I look forward to each year, the turning of the wheel. Many people feel remorse at the passing of summer, they worship the sun and the heat like zealots, unaware of the balance that must be maintained between dark and light.
There is as much beauty and life in the winter as there is in the summer, and it needs to be appreciated as much. A time of renewal, a time of rest, a time of comfort. Many's the time I would walk through the woods on a snowy day and simply sit on a fallen log, and quiet myself and listen to the sound of the winter. Peaceful. Silent. Sleeping. I wonder what nature dreams of?
A time to remember the loved and lost, to reconcile differences with those we still hold dear, a time to celebrate the labours of the summer months, and a time more than anything to ponder the questions the previous year has brought.
Don't hate the winter. Embrace and love it. And maybe, just maybe, in that time of rest you'll find transformation to something more beautiful, more green, more full of life than before.
