yeah, i used to hang out with a friend out in that nice area by the american school. can't remember the name of the area though. she was pretty rich so they had a really huge apartment in the hills close to there.
shenzhen art scene? i would like to see that article. i think shenzhen has about as much culture as a disneyworld parking lot. it's all about the mighty dolla' here. i play in a kinda punk/ new order/ velvet underground-ish band here and we started a fight the night of our first gig when some businessmen were totally offended that yang guizi were taking up the stage when they could be listening to local chinese heavy metal rip off bands. we had a great gig in guangzhou though. i know some other musicians but most never even bother playing here. guangzhou has the art scene. we just have the chinese redneque riche.
