Thanks for the kind words, and yeh it does seem to be a big problem with our generation, possibly because so much is done for us, and while there are less jobs, there are more options. Like Tyler Durden says, we have no great wars, no great depression, our great depression is our lives.
But yeah surfing and music, and even Suicide Girls helps, by making u feel part of a broader community, a greater purpose. Although it isn't necessarily good enough to simply not do bad.

With your lady friend, realise that until you have her, you have nothing to lose, so dont get nervous, because nothings really at stake yet. Just treat her like a person, and as much as trying to talk to her, make sure ya listen to her.
If you can't be yourself around her, then you might have her up too high on a pedistal for a healthy relationship. Guys always do that for some reason.
