COCA-COLA OBJECT TO CHRIST FILM

COCA-Cola is threatening legal action to stop a film showing Jesus Christ drinking from a can of Coke.

The Italian film 'Seven Kilometres from Jerusalem', directed by Claudio Malaponti and due out in Italy on Good Friday, imagines a Christ who lives in the Middle East in the 21st century.

Coca-Cola said the use of its brand was unauthorised and unacceptable.

"The Pope didn't object to the Coca-Cola scene," Mr Malaponti pointed out. "It's a coherent part of a film in which Jesus is portrayed as the greatest communicator of all time."

( The Times, London)

I bet Coke is pissed because after Jesus takes a sip, he says something like, "Wow, this tastes like shit." Or, "Pepsi really does taste better." tongue

(This image is unrelated to the film -- it was one of the pieces displayed at the Russia! 2 exhibit in a Chelsea gallery in NYC. In case you were confused!)

I've had some kind of flu-like virus for a few days now. I blame the air at work: it's a thick, disgusting soup of hot computer air and the breath of too many employees in a relatively cramped space. There are a lot of people working in the same room as I, there's no circulation of fresh air at all, and people just keep getting sick. It's virtually impossible to get anything like that "fixed" at my job, so I don't see how things are going to improve for us health-wise. Fortunately, I think we're getting a much smaller contract from the government this year, so I'm hoping there will be a lot less heads in my area spewing out their germs. I am as a rule not a germ-ophobe, and I think Americans tend to be a bit insane with all the anti-bacterial nonsense cleaning-products companies have managed to convince everyone that they need in order to not die. (I'm talking about all you Purell addicts out there wink) However, the fact that I have become sick three times in under a year -- which is highly unusual for me, almost impossible -- has made me believe that my workplace is making me sick. I just hope I don't become like Julianne Moore's character in Todd Haynes' "Safe" (which is an excellent film, by the way).

I think I'm rambling because my head is completely plugged up, so I'll just say goodbye for now and wish you all a good start to your spring season. surreal
