Because many "photographers" are just GWC's (Guys With Cameras), and don't have that level of professionalism. They may be "too busy", but too busy to do your homework is an indication (IMHO) that you're sacrificing quality for quantity, which is not the way to succeed in this competitive field.
Ugh, i don't know, that sounds really stupid actually... How do they pretend to do a work on something the don't know?
Better luck next time, and never forget to ask everything! some people are just... dumb.
maybe for the same reason that some models take sets and post them in their pics section on SG without actually submitting them....by the time they realize they made a mistake it's too late to do anything about it.
The real question is do we allow people to learn and grow from these experiences, or are we more interested in just slamming them every chance we get. Let's hope the world we live in falls under the first option and we all breathe and cut each other a little slack.
PS: for those of you who might be curious, I'm the one who was not completely up to speed on how zivity pays people for their sets, NOT the one who was changing lenses every 3 minutes.
So larsomatic , why did you want to shoot for Zivity if you had no idea how it worked??? and from the recent messages you sent me, you seem pretty bitter about only making 30 cents per vote.
no not bitter at all....so you misinterpreted what I wrote....I thought it was pretty clear. You can post a set, get some nice feedback and make a few bucks off the votes....or you can post a set, get some nice feedback, make a few bucks off the votes AND possibly win a contest for some MORE bucks...what don't you understand about that?
a set that is shot and held on to in hopes of a contest being posted, is lame. It will never do as well in a contest as a set that has been specifically shot for the contest.
Actually, I know a few photogs who have done exactly that...I'm pretty sure you know them to. They posted an older set for a contest that thought fit...and they won. there is no "right way or wrong way" to do anything. Again, I remind you that every choice you have made about posting sets we have shot has not turned out well...why not trust someone else's ideas for once.....I don't think we could do any worse than before. Just a thought.
You still haven't answered the question, why did you want to shoot for Zivity if you had no idea how it worked??? That is what this whole blog is about, so please stay on point here.
Good point. I shoot for the art, craft and enjoyment of the collaboration. Despite what's been written between you and me, I have actually enjoyed our collaborations. Sometimes they have yielded great results, sometimes not so much. However, the planning and actual shoots have been good collaborations in my opinion.
As to Zivity: I joined in 2009. I think you may have told me about it, I actually don't remember. When I first joined, I believe you needed a certain number of votes before you could actually start collecting money. You, or other SG members who also belong to Zivity, could probably correct me on this. At some point they added the contests and, I think, changed how the whole "votes = money" system works. Again, this is my memory and it could be wrong. I've been wrong before and will be wrong again. My lack of understanding every aspect of a site, or anything, does not diminish my enjoyment and sense of community.
Some do so so they can take photos of a nude girl and really care nothing for the results until the excitement down under fades and suddenly they say oh hey, I'd rather like to be paid! Men. Unless a man has an Extensive portfolio and excellent client record I will NEVER shoot with a man. Women take this seriously and are more giving and considerate. Plain and simple. Not to mention they use both sides of their brain...which is a plus I'd say.
That said, when are WE shooting? ;-)
