I don't blog much. Mainly because I rarely have anything worth saying (or really, anything that's not completely depressing). But, since I'm completely inebriated at the moment, I'm just going to ramble, in what I hope is intelligible English.
The reason why I want it to be such good English is because I just finished reading "Byron in Love" by Edna O'Brien, which is absolutely amazing and one of the best written works I've read in a long time, but also one of the most fascinating. Lord Byron is perhaps one of the most interesting figures in literary work, combining both sympathy and antipathy at the same time. You can relate to him so well in one moment and recognize he's a complete asshole in the next. At least, this is what this biography told me about him.
Oh yes, this is what goes through my head while I'm drunk.
The reason for drinking? A girl. An ex (Liz), exactly. We were doing so well with the whole being friends thing until she decided that she was "confused and didn't see a future for us". Mind you, I was completely bewildered. I thought we were just friends, but apparently, I was wrong. Sigh. Essentially, she wants me to fit nicely into a comfortable region in her life where she can call upon me at will. Unfortunately, I have decided that I refuse to change myself any further than I did when I was with Gen (or as I refer to her, "she who shall not be named").
I'm firmly aware that I have extreme commitment issues after my relationship with Gen, which is why I tell girls not to expect anything from me, physical or emotional. But, somehow, Liz broke through that and I found myself entangled in a relationship. I honestly don't plan on these things.
Other than that, I'm entangled in too many girls who want me to be something I'm not willing or able to be. I just want to be alone. Solus.
I'm a big fan of the new Pearl Jam song, The Fixer. You should listen to it. Other than that, the recent Soulsavers album is pretty good, but I'm extremely partial to Mark Lanegan's work. I've been listening to "By My Side' which is sung by Red Ghost (not Mark) on the album and it's a beautiful sad song.
I bought Rock Band 2, and it's delightful.
My hot water heater, which was leaking all over my basement this weekend, got replaced today.
It's the small victories that matter the most.

nerina:
Pearl Jam are awesome! My first (and, uh, only) tattoo is a PJ tattoo! Mark Lanegan is pretty great too, I love the Screaming Trees' stuff and his song "Hit the City"
