Had an entertaining afternoon yesterday. Here in Canada we have a 4 team Rugby Union (there are 2 styles of rugby - "Union" and "League") national Championship series. The teams are British Columbia, Prairie Wolf Pack (Alberta, Saskatchewan and Winnipeg), Ontario Blues and Atlantic Rock (Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador). These teams play each other a couple of times over the season and the champion is determined by total points at the end. Yesterday BC played the Prairie Wolf Pack in a very entertaining Test.

BC owned the first half, but really ran out of gas in the 2nd. Fortunately for BC, the Wolf Pack ran out of time, turning what started as a BC blowout into a respectable score. What was truly amazing about all of this is that the event was held in Kelowna at all. Rugby is much bigger in the Fraser Valley, never mind the population being literally 20 times the size. Very cool for us to even see such a match. To put it into perspective, many of the members of these 2 teams are currently away playing for the National Team, prepping for the World Cup next month. Canada is not a Top Tier team at the World Cup, but we are usually top 12, this is just a step below that, so a pretty high level came to a small group of cities of around 150,000 or so. Very cool



I even ran into a few old friends I hadn't seen since the hockey season ended.
