I don't think it's a bad thing to cull the negative people from your life... But does getting married and having kids actually mean you have nothing in common anymore? Common interests will more than likely still be there even if choices we make in our lives change our focus. You can still have a great time catching up! smile

I like your style. I personally have very little 'in common' with most of my friends and loved ones, but it's those few traits of 'smart, positive, good energy..when they are near me I can achieve anything' that are the crucial ones for me. I've culled lots of people who I have lots in common with, but were downers and/or judgmental or had tunnel-vision. Whilst I believe in longevity of relationships and loyalty, you can tell when a relationship has passed it's used-by date.
