No escape, it seemed
Gentle Creature,
Fyodor imagined her
no emancipation in those days
-is there any for most these days?
Beauty did not elude her,
though the tough called her his.
She felt the sweet kiss of the Mother,
in her arms she held freedom
'god's wings,' she prayed
'her mystery infant would catch her fall.'
-the night's snow
caught her flight,
the ground.
Snow flakes, each different,
caressed her anemic frame,
pressing kisses upon her cheeks,
forehead,
crocheting a blanket she deserved,
purity, though she made no pretense.
Our Gentle Creature's smile returned,
her last whisper,
an angel did not arrive in time-
a hug gave her wings
snow flakes sewn by gnomes,
others who knew her slavery watched
as she flew into their court.
I felt her kiss
last evening,
falling to rest upon the earth's bed.

and a painting/photo of a fallen beauty in fantasy.
