Family puts the Fun in Funeral.

WOW. So okay I drive up to WV to see my great-grandmother on Thanksgiving, she was deathly ill and I wanted to see her before she passed. She was 97. We arrived at the home around 12:00a.m. and I spent two hours with her and then went to my great uncles to spend the night woke up on Thanksgiving and she had passed. WOW. So the whole trip up there some in my family wanted to come with me then backed out at the last minute then 2 hours into the drive they changed thier mind and had the gawl to want us to turn around and go get them. We didn't and that was that. Proving that when life gives you a chance you better take it because it may be your last one.

So the funeral was interesting at best. I come from a very large family. My grandmother has six kids one of them my mom. My great-grandmother comes from a family of six and we are scattered every-where. Ohio, West Va, TN, North and South Carolina, Florida, Texas, Maryland, and Arkansa. You know The great Southern Red States smile Most of these people came in and you never realize how much tension is in a family like this till you put them in one room. So anyway these are thier hang-ups and I have mine. I hardly ever see any of these ppl till a funeral happens. And I still do not know ALL of thiers names. I met ppl I have never seen before.

All and all many nice things where said about my great grand-mother. She was a kind soul. My mom told me a story about the time she lived in ATL and grand -ma came to stay with them she was at the playground and the only kids around where some black children and my GGMa sat my mom down next to them and had no problems with this. Remeber this was early fifties in ATL. She was like this. She looked at everyone equally and never spoke harshly of anyone. Everyone in the town knew her in all generations. When she went to the grocery store even kids and teenagers came to her and asked how she was. Taking her shopping took forever because evryone would stop here.

The last two hours I spent with her I could have never been prepared for what I seen. In the best way possible without cheapening the moment I describe her appearance as something from a horror movie. She wieghed only 83 pounds. She was a bones a heart and a soul. Her eyes where sunk into her head. I sat beside her and held her hand and I could not believe what I was seeing. I went to my great-uncles to crash and prayed for her death. It was astounding. When I awoke my prayers was answered. I was sad and happy at the same time. She lived a wonderful independent life and her demise should not have been a slow one. In a family as big as mine I look at here like a queen. She was the last remaining elder from the tops of the family tree and so I say Our Queen has Fallen.........
