Aww . . . as I was reading this, I kept expecting some form of monumental catastrophe [as that's how I roll whenever I try to tackle a new project with unbridled (and in my case unrealistic) zeal] - - I'm so glad it turned out correctly (and beautifully) for you smile love
As to the tree thing, aye, I'm there as well. I LOVE the ritual, but as a non-christian, it's somewhat odd - especially with the kid. But, to me, the holidays are all about the traditions, the spirit, and the rituals. I've always received ornaments from my grandmother also - some great, some . . . well, that's what the back o' the tree is for wink . We've been giving the Spawn an ornament each year also, always made by our artist friends; all metal and blown glass. Her tree is going to kick some serious ass when she's an adult . . .

Now I know if a candle comes to my mailbox, will come from the sweat of your brow.smile
aldremech:
That is awesome smile
We used to get stoned and make crazy shit pouring molten wax into 5 gallon buckets of swirling waterbiggrin
breezey:
Man, that's pretty awesome. Your candle looks great!
clarkekid:
Ok, I've seen friends try and make candles, but I've never seen them come out that well. Great job!! biggrin
lilli:
Wow. That is gorgeous. Nothing like my one attempt at making candles. They turned out kinda cute, but definitely... ummm... homespun... and not at all as exquisite as yours! kiss
lilafussybottom:
Ahahaha! I love your candle story - sounds just like something I'd do. That looks so nice!

I'm like 98% of the population and struggling, so I broke out the stash of yarn and am knitting and crocheting for everyone this year. Including the men. They can suck it up and love the tea cozy the way I do...
tilpacer:
Nicely done.
papat:
i think you're ready to move up to beeswax! (much kinder on the indoor air pollution front). I've never had much success making virgin candles ...i just play and sculpt mine as they're burning

Rosshalde ...i was so trying not to give away the ending ...such a heartbreaker that sneaks up on ya out of nowhere, eh ...what others of his have you read and like? ...Sid and Steppen are both brilliant, but I also like Journey to the East and Beneath the Wheel ...still have yet to muster the patience for the Glass Bead Game
ribbonsundone:
Oh WOW!! That sounds AWESOME! And a bit horrible. Your mad candle skillz are impressive, my dear. I would have given up, I fear. The resulting candles sound as though they will be absolutely lovely and fragrant. Mmmmmmmm.
tigerwong:
Oh i still am. Had a slack-off week this week, but i'm definitely not stopping.

Glad you liked it!
ribbonsundone:
Thanks, mama. And reading is WAY sexy! As are you. kiss
ladollyvita:
so true. the adjusting is going well, though! biggrin

missed you at the holiday party :'(

your breakfast sounds friggin delicious.
ladollyvita:
ps: holy shit your candle is perfect looking!!
kornalina:
thanxxxxxxx bettyyyyyyyy
papat:
that's pretty much it ...nobody's perfect, but as long as we're trying and able to forgive others for their missteps. Of course, some days are better than others ...on both sides of the coin. My friend's dog visited this past weekend and got into my recycling ....thought I was smart in taking out my trash, but alas the seaweed aroma on a package's paper insert proved too tempting ...his guilty puppy face was too cute. Unfortunately, I've unwittingly trained my little human puppies the fine art of bullshitting, which makes it rather hard to cull out the guilty party when things go awry.

anyway, thanks for the love and kindness

....and the peek at that beautiful piece! ...yours? ...thematically it reminds me of a local artist around here ...mara freidman
geekgoddess:
hey. I'm still here for a few more months. just not very active. so busy with life and school. how are you? miss ya too!
emma1:
