Arthritis is icky. I will probably have it soon due to years of figure skating. My coach had it so bad by the time she was 30 something that she had to sometimes have her husband turn the shower on for her.
1. "Fast Food Nation" and "The Monk" by Matthew Lewis. Oh, and Bizarre magazine. Plus I always have half-read books lying around my room.
2. In college I took a class on trash, exploitation and "badfilm" movies. Where else can you study the social and asthetic implications of such classics as "Pink Flamingoes," "Showgirls," "Cool as Ice" and "Robot Monster?"
3. The goth part of my is wearing a black satin brocade blouse with long drippy mesh sleeves, burgandy doc martens, and a red and black satin, steel-boned corset. The trendy part of my is wearing Christian Lacroix jeans. You decide which is which
a) I always read multiple books at the same time, but the "significant" one I'm reading right now is "Les Miserables", by Victor Hugo. In parallel, the less signficant "Manifold: Origin" by Stephen Baxter and "To The Hilt", by Dick Francis.
b) my favourite class was biology, but my most useful class was typing.

a/ I'm very slowly reading The Making of the Atomic Bomb by Richard Rhodes. It's not that I read slowly... it's just a really heavy book. I don't know much about nuclear physics so it tends to be a tough read.

Well, ever since I was a sophomore in high school (!) I have been reading the Wheel of Time series. The books have gotten terrible, but I keep reading them because i have commited so much time to them that I feel obligated to finish.
The one I just finished reading is a forgotten realms book Dissolution, about dark elves. I was on vacation in New Jersey and needed something to read (I was sick).
