That's one helluva revue bro. You made the reader feel like they were right by you as the moments pass you by. It's so strange sometimes how the power of your own will can have a lasting affect on the events that are happening around you. You know what I mean: Deep inside yourself you're not merely wishing the concert will get better, but that teenage kid screaming to come out demanded that Ozzy perform to specs the way you remember him. Despite the foul odored patron near you or the crappy-assed beer, I'm glad that you did get your 3 1/2 minutes of bliss.
As for me, I have the same feeling but for a different band. 4 boys from Essex who churned out "Just Can't Get Enough" in 1981. Twenty-Six years later and they're still on my top 3 list of all-time favourite bands (others include The Mission and The Cure).
I was @ their last tour...I went across the pond to do it too 'cause I wanted to see them there. Crazy, but The Cure was playing Royal Albert Hall on the 1st of April w/ Depeche Mode playing Wembley Arena on the 2nd and 3rd. I was in friggin' heaven man!
Have a good w/d man...the picture w/ your 2 kids is grand bro....
That's a great review fella. I know the feeling too. For me it was seeing Jane's Addiction at Reading some years back. I think it was before the release of Strays, during their comeback tour. Jane's were the band that got me through my teens. I thought Perry Farrell was the coolest guy in the world, although I've since seen interviews with him and, like Ozzy, he's long since fried anything I found intriguing. But I never got to see them and this was my chance. The whole performance was tired to look at; all I could see was tax returns on stage. But the songs and the playing was amazing so I just shut my eyes, went back to being 16 and had the time of my life. I still couldn't tell you a single thing about what was going on on stage.
Hey bro just wanted to return the greetings. I had to call out of work today because I messed up my back over the weekend. I really don't even know how it happened, but it's so bad that I can't even lay down w/o being in immense pain (especially when I move in bed or when I try to get out of it). I slept sitting down on the couch for the past 2 nights now...ugh!
The book was fantastic! Tell you wife to stay away from the internet or any sort of press (that includes the BBC, ITV, SKY, or the radio)...she'll get spoilers all over the place!
