A few weeks ago, my mom offered to help me buy a new, better camera for my birthday (slash late Xmas present). With my birthday being 2 weeks and 2 days away and her offer becoming more concrete, I could hardly wait so I got the go-ahead to order it last night. I lucked out and there was an offer for free 2-day shipping if I did a free 1-month trial run of something (which I have promptly freed myself of by declining the upgrade before I get charged), so I took advantage of that and my camera arrives on Friday! I got a Canon Rebel XSi in black, plus miscellaneous necessities and extras like a semi-hard case, an extra battery, a lense hood, and an 8GB memory card.
I am so friggin excited
I've been shooting with my cheap little Canon Powershot that I got in Rome on a budget to replace my old camera that died on the train ride into Rome. It just isn't able to do what I want to do with it, so I've been wanting a better camera for a while now.
Now I just have to decide what to shoot first
Though I don't want it to be the first thing I shoot, I can guarentee you that there will be some kid portraits within a few days at most. Kids are fun to shoot, and I'm surrounded by them so they're an easy subject for me.
