...that's too bad, but I know just what you mean. I couldnt handle being in a town with too many old memories and no promise of creating new ones. I've heard Portland is beautiful. I tried planning a trip there last summer (failed). And, I enjoy the rain a great deal, so I think it'd suit me just fine.
I can't say that I've seen an old bookstore on Newbury... just the Trident. I was lucky enough to catch a music store as it was going out of business. I havent found a better one since...
