Cold and rainey, tons of snow--typical Wisconsin Sunday. Just watched the new Walking Dead, and wow, lots of commercials. I paused my DVR so I could fast forward through them, and ten minutes wasn't even close to enough buffer time.
Now for some reason I've arrived at watching Guinness World Records on TruTV. A stellar showcase of human potential and America at it's finest. Saw a man get shorted of his world record attempt at eating lit birthday candles, he accidentally ate two at once and was DQ'd on a technicality. Now there's going to be a head to head competition of people putting clothes-pins on their face.
Hmmm. I don't know that I should keep cable. I wish I could just pick what channels I want. An old roommate from college, stayed at my apartment for a handful of days last week. He's a dashing young american born Puerto Rican eco-friendly-hippy-philosopher-psychadelic-adventurer-intellectual and most recently conspiracy theorist. -His degree is in philosophy, his dad was a Marine Corps drill sergeant and his mom a Grateful dead-head. He's definitely out there. I had to work everyday, so I'd leave him my keys and to his business. I don't think he turned my television on once, as a matter of fact he unplugged the DVR because he felt like the faint hum of the hard-drive was cutting into his brain. It was refreshing to reconnect with someone who is not interested in material things or being entertained--only treating his body, the earth, and his peers with respect and care, education.
I ate some boomers he gave me and took a candle-lit bath. Definitely a necessary experience, weekends are never a long enough escape, even though I generally enjoy my work a lot. Learned that I need to start living in and recognizing the present rather than always living for tomorrow.
