So. To everyone with an old car. Check your oil often.
My car broke down on me not 2 minutes aways from my work (and I was about to get onto the highway, now THAT would've sucked). Oh lucky me, I forgot my cellphone at home yesterday too! So my mum is the kinda gal that goes to bed at 7:30 pm, and it was almost 9. ***Note to self: get a phonebook and add all your car handy friends in it.*** So she agrees to come get me, but she's so, so grumpy about it. She shows up, and, with a stroke of genius, decided to wear high heels to help push my car into a driveway. Needless to say I did the pushing and she did the steering wheel turning. We topped it with oil, checked all that we knew to check, but it still wasn't starting. My theory is that it flooded, and I had to take an hour and a half bus to get to work and havn't checked to see if it turned on today. I will once my boss has 5 minutes to drive me to it. To be fair people, I've had this car for a month, and I've had my liscence for a month. I don't care much for cars, other than finding them pretty, so for sure I don't know all, the little things and when to check what. My oil change is due in 200 000 km still, but I'm told since it's an old car I should check it waaaayyy more often. Good, now I know. But it's been looking like my aunt may have sold me a lemon...
So, lesson learned. Here's what I pulled from it. 1, even if it's a family member selling it, always get an inspection before buying it. 2, check your oil often. 3, expect the worst, 4 carry phone numbers around, and don't forget your cell, and finally, 5, if someone's having car trouble, even if you're not handy and don't really know how to help, be a human being and offer your help, maybe all they need is a phone or a push.
Im an optimist to the point of annoying some of my black cloud riding friends, but I'm also a nihilist in a weird way. I believe things will get better, but not for humans...
On another note, I woke up with Waffles AND Yellow sleeping on my face. They're so damn adorable!!!
xoxo
