I haven't, but I have heard that it can be a great treatment for depression (I do suffer from occasional episodes), I wouldn't mind trying it in a controlled environment one day.
@sammax93 I'm sorry to hear that you suffer from depression :( I also have bouts where I just can't see the light and I've heard great things so I'd love to try it but it's still not readily available in Australia, I was thinking about a trip to Canada or the Netherlands to hopefully try it as a therapy in a controlled environment. Not sure shrooms in the living room would give me the same outcome 😝 I've never tried psychedelics and worry about my mental state and the effects they could have, particularly something like LSD
Same here; that would be quite the experience for me as I have been sober my entire life (I have never even been drunk or stoned). Although I have a co-worker who said that he tried LSD years ago and said that it helped with his depression. And the BBC also has an article supporting those claims (although more specifically shrooms)
@sammax93 I've been reading Michael Pollan's book How to Change Your Mind (the new science of psychedelics) and got an email today to say that there's now a Netflix docu-series on it! Looking forward to putting that on later. Also a friend of a friend apparently had DMT therapy here in Australia so I'd love to know how to access something like that myself.. also good on you for a lifetime sober! That's awesome 😁
I've never done psychedelics in a "conteolled" environment where there was a particular goal beyond putting my mind in a different state, but I highly recommend it to everyone! Finding a place where you feel safe, and a person you feel safe around is key to a good experience in my opinion. Thanks for sharing!
I would love to just get some shrooms and go bush with my partner, I think we could have a lot of fun but I have unfortunately experienced psychosis and tend to be wary of trying psychedelics outside a controlled environment for fear of something snapping in my brain 😅 @elixic my friends used to warn me away from acid because of my mental state so I've never tried psychedelics...
Yeah, is know almost nothing about psychosis, something I should look at. Did you ever play Hellblade: Sensuas Sacrifice? There were some elements of psychosis in that and from what I read it could help those who have not suffered from it empathize with those who have. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hellblade:_Senua's_Sacrifice
Wow, I really want to check that out, sounds very interesting I'd love to see how they portray the illness, I love that "The game's narrative serves as a metaphor for the character's struggle with psychosis, as Senua, who suffers from the condition but believes it to be a curse, is haunted by an entity known as the "Darkness", voices in her head known as "Furies", and memories from her past." I can really relate, I'm still struggling with PTSD or my own "Darkness".
I’ve not, but there was a really great documentary on the ABC not so long ago… may have been an episode of Four Corners 🤔. Super interesting. It might still be up on I-view.
I saw it, it was terrible. @burden_in_my_hand sorry I would say more but I don't have anything nice to say and I'm a bit distracted watching Asloke's live stream at the moment 😅
