So, after my shift today at the coffee bar I called my boss and gave him my two week notice and told him I was sending him the notice in writing as well. It's clear he's not the one running his business but is letting other employees do it for him, nor is he responding to complaints. No one else does there work there, so when I get there for my shift everthing's a mess. He just shruggs his shoulders and says he'll "talk" to the others, but if he has it hasn't made any difference.

After that I went to a meeting with a local paper and signed a freelance contract, which is great. I'll finally be paid for writing; a plus although beefing up my portfolio is my main interest. I also explained to them I was looking for an internship to work on editing/proofreading/fact-checking (I'm still applying for a magazine internship for the summer in Charlotte).

I called my dad with the news. I've been on a couple of interviews in the past few weeks, none of them offering close to full time, but I am going to call back the places that offered me part time work and tell them I'm still interested in them.

Heading to Columbia this weekend. I need to get away.
