Well, darlings, it's New Years Eve, and 2006 is ending on a high note. A quick check of my bank balance just brought the pleasant surprise of my student loan funds coming in 2 days early...just in time for party time
Speaking of party time, we're venturing away from the tried and true (if slightly stale) Blarney to ring in the new year, and instead, burn_bomb and myself will be making merry with friends at the Chaz Royal NYE Burlesque at the Lamplighter...at least I'm still sticking to Gastown I started my toilette early this afternoon, and my precisely curled bangs are being held in place by a hope, a prayer, and a lot of hairspray. I did, however, manage to spill red nail polish on our duvet cover...any hints for getting it gone? Hopefully it's not permanent, but at least it's of a hue with the pattern.
As of 2007, I'll be back off my lazy rear end with a shiny new gym membership and a mostly willing work out buddy. By the time I'm to decide whether or not to shoot a set come summer, I'll be back in fighting form. In addition, I'll only be in class 2 days a week (though Tuesdays are looking rather long), so will hopefully have more time to devote to independent study. Here's to no late papers this semester!
Christmas was lovely, of course, if a bit quieter than usual (body count at dinner this year was ~11, as opposed to last year's 27), but I got to spend it with Alex, which was a nice gift in itself. Boxing day/week shopping was fruitful, even if all I spent my money on was lingerie and pyjamas. Oh, and socks! They're all lovely (and heavily discounted), and thus worth it.
Overall, the end of 2006 leaves me contented. It's been a good year in some ways, and trying one in others. It's been filled with massive changes that have forced me to find and hold strong to my centre, something I intend to improve on. It's also, miraculously, found me love, for which I am both grateful to the powers that be and my lovely significant other. Mostly, though, it leaves me looking to 2007 with hope for what may come, and the strength and confidence to have personal agency in it.
Happy New Year, all, and best wishes for 2007. Now go drink in the new year!
