doing double the work and getting half the money......that's part of the american dream isn't it? Every job i have had is that way. They compliment my work but never increase my salary, and then are utterly shocked when i am telling them i am leaving for a job that pays more.....weird.
You need to get all the bad shit out somewhere, sometimes a blog/journal are the only place you have to do it, so why not use it?
Yes--it was amazing! Except, oh yeah, my team lost our first game (to carolina) and didn't get to advance to the second day...so very sad for us. We lost by 7 points, I think. BUt the end of the weekend was amazing with KC taking the title from Seattle. Sweet poetic justice. How are you?
Dang! What you're talking about pay-wise reminds me of this book I just finished called "Nickel and Dimed" and one of the things it reveals is just how much more responsive rent prices are waaaay more inflationary than wages period. They go up and up and up and wages stay the same despite significant increases in the cost of living--especially gas prices. I hope you do get youor raise and it's plenty enough to keep your head above water. Seems like it can be really hard to make any headway in the US nowadays. I suppose that's why i'm here in Korea.
I think when i finally go back home, i'm looking at moving out more westerly like Chicago, Denver or Portland. Chicago seems like an amazing place. Good luck with your decisions.
Ahhh, but for the most part, we English teachers never pay a dime of rent here. Though you're right about rent in Seoul. A friend of mine lives in a three bedroom place in the middle of Seoul and her rent is over 4K/month.
you can always call me too.
