I am extremely excited! I just accepted a new addition into our little family of two - a guinea pig! 
My wee one doesn't know yet but the new little guy is arriving tomorrow morning with all his gear. A nice family of 3 boys and 3 dogs quickly realized after a week that adding another pet wasn't going to work (no kidding!) So... by sheer fluke I happened along the ad on CL for a free guinea pig to a good home. I was going to get a guinea pig in the fall so this just happens to work out for all involved (albeit a titch early).
So tomorrow morning I will be making a place of honour for the little guy's home in our livingroom. My wee one is going to be completely enthralled. She is so gentle with animals and is always wanting to interact with them. The little guy's name is currently Chewy but we will see what my wee one comes up with for a name. She has a talent for choosing great names for things: i.e. Orton (her fake plant), Hugh (a handmade stuffed toy), Llama (the toy sheep), Suki (her japanese Groovy Girl doll), Enzo (the ninja Yeti {another handmade toy} ).... the list goes on. Considering the girl is only 2 and a bit, you have to admit she is very creative.
I will post up pictures of the new family member once he is settled. Eeeeee! I don't know how I am going to sleep, I am so excited!!
oh yeah, btw...... I haven't done this before but I feel that it is necessary.

So far Chewy came to the wading pool/toy park with us. Don't judge us but he travelled by large purse suspended from the back of the stroller. (We need to get a proper carrier as I was freaking out the entire time.) The zipper was open about 2 inches and he cuddled with a small open weave blankie during the 15 minute ride. He liked hanging out on my lap at the edge of the pool. Wasn't too keen on the splashy boys (I wasn't either as I spent the rest of the trip with a soaked bum.) We tried to walk him in his tiny harness but somehow he squeezed out of it - luckily I managed to scoop him up before he headed into the wilds of Parkdale without an uzi. (Just kidding! Bare minimum is a whistle and bravado....) Sandbox was too occupied so the wee one played with a fleet of toy riding cars and Chewy and I sat in the grass in the shade. Finally convinced the wee one that Chewy wasn't feeling the park anymore and it was time to head home for some apple slices. After dinner, Chewy spent about 2 hours squeaking and skipping around the livingroom while occasionally nibbling on celery leaves and we all watched Rango together. Good first day!
