The Oi Polloi show rocked my ass so now i will just type frantically about it for a few minutes. Anyway, it didn't end up happening at the Afrika cuz they're having some trouble with the fire inspector or something. So it was at the Vrankryk, the quintessential amsterdam squat bar. I got there right as Oi Polloi was about to play and got some beer and chilled with my cool, but young, punk rock vegan friends. It was good to catch up with them cuz i had been outta town for a week. Then Oi Polloi played (and there were lots of anti racist skins there, mostly guys, cuz of the 'oi' thing, but Oi Polloi isn't really an 'oi' band, more of an anarcho-peace type band...anyway) and it got really fuckin rough. I am covered with well-earned mosh-pit bruises. I was amazed me and little Rose stayed in the front the entire time cuz we were slightly drunk and getting crushed, punched, stepped on and pushed. But it payed off cuz Rose seemed happy I was there, she kept putting her arm around me and flirting with me and gave me a little kiss, that was nice....and Oi Polloi pulled me up on stage. They were like, "alright, who likes metal?" Of course I was like 'hell yeah' (one of the reasons i adore this band so much is cuz they have the most crusty, thrashing political songs and then all the sudden here comes this rockin' old school metal guitat solo, just awesome!!) and then so the lead singer was like "I need a volunteer" well i didn't even have to volunteer myself cuz then he was just like "YOU sister," and pointed to me "show us how it's done" and brought me onstage to airguitar through the entire "Burn the Rich" ....that was the highlight of my evening. airguitaring onstage with oi polloi. the dream of a lifetime!!!!!
