OK, so my skydiving story. I jumped twice with no incidents. One of the girls I was jumping with jumped, checked her 'chute, and saw that it wasn't round. That's bad - it may mean there is a line wrapped over the top and it's not working right. So she cut it loose and deployed her reserve. She checked her reserve: not round. This seemed a little fishy, so she started doing perception checks. In a few seconds she figured out that she had lost one of the lenses from her glasses when she jumped, and her astigmatism was making the 'chutes look oblong. She cut away a perfectly good main because her glasses got wanged. Anyway, she landed safely enough.
