So I'm safely in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The view out my windows is astonishing...ly disappointing.
I've got about 2 degrees of viewable ocean, and the rest is all hotel rooms, courtyards, service entrances, blah, blah, blah.
But the other side of the hotel has a pretty view out to the water. Maybe some pics tomorrow.
I wish I knew some folks here that could tell me where to get *good* local food and drinks.
I loathe the whole touristy feel that hotels bring, and especially the same-as-every-other-place dining options.
I want the hole-in-the wall shop with the best picadillo in town. Or the best coffee colao. I want to go to those places. Especially if it means i'm having to order in garbled pidgin spanish, because that means they don't give a shit about the tourists, and only want to please the local folks. *that's* what I'm into.
