chitin:
Slow news day, eh?

"Yes, ladies in gentlemen, time IS in fact still flowing!"
chitin:
Hah. "Countdown to Armageddon..."
strongmad:
You know what they say, you'll find it at Fred Meyer!

And do you think it throws their shit all out of whack when they have to reprogram the ticker on leap years?
bleunuit:
Too bad what we really need can only be freely given...
When the newscast says "...290 days until the moment arbitrarily chosen to mark the beginning of an apparently infinite series of cycles we still don't really understand begins..", then I'll start paying attention...
bleunuit:
My heart rate just officially doubled! I feel like crocus buds must when they break through the snow's crust and feel the warmth of the spring sun....
beledi:
Wow, at first I didn't realize you were being sarcastic... wink

I love your name, which is why I stopped by to say 'hi'.
commonman:
Yep, wherever you go, there you are. These people should be put on a TV show called "Masters of the Obvious." It would sound like that old Cheech and Chong skit 'Let's Make a Dope Deal"

"OK Bob, for three keys, what is your name? Threee seconds, Bob. . . "
Uhh BOB! BOB! My name is Bob!"

Or something like that.

It breaks my heart when I see a little one crying. But you're right, you can't protect them, you can only let them grow or smother them.
bleunuit:
In the meantime, there's plenty of winter left for snuggling deep in the blankets, laughing, whispering, touching...
bleunuit:
Perfect for dreaming of little birds.. and feeling their soft down brushing across my face...
beledi:
It's a middle-eastern rhythm in the arabic drumming class I was taking for furthering my understanding of bellydancing. The beats to it are so deep and earthy, I love it! I believe it also refers to a dance, or to bellydancing in general. smile
quasi_sean:
what is this 365 days in a year crap?
bleunuit:
Exactly what I was imagining!
unknowntrigram:
Some years have more than 365...
Every few years it changes!!!!!
Roit.
Anyway welcome to the BCB group.
lotusmonger:
I'm not a card carrying Zen Buddhist, but I have a feeling Buddha would actually agree that those were profound statements...
kinda like Buckaroo Banzai said, "Wherever you go, there you are"
unknowntrigram:
Pah! It may have 365.24blablalblalblalbla but we only celebrate how bad our calander is once every four years. I vote that we should do it more often.
quasi_sean:
If I'm beautiful, what does that make you?
moniker42:
How did your mother know Kerouac?
quasi_sean:
hmmm....well don't look too hard...it'll hurt them pretty little eyes of yours. smile
bleunuit:
Sprinting, dashing, jogging - all great ways to get your heart pounding... as you've helped me discover...again and again... easy when it's you at the finish line! I used to run cross country... sometimes I'd be tearing along, nothing but action... then I'd have to go slow up a mossy rise or gently negotiate a slippery incline in a dappled valley... then I'd ramp up to full speed again for a while...sometimes it took hours...

Yup, two steaks. One for him and, well, two for him. smile
johnsonboy:
The press is working very hard not to cover the things that matter, which leaves a lot of time for counting the days left in the year. I believe it's part of an organized conspiracy, of which, ironically, Fred Meyer is a part.
rodan:
lol - one of those "Look, Math Still Works!" things smile Or maybe not. wink

Darned rocks are HARD - a fact that I've certainly learned over and over again over the years - along with fire being hot and knives being sharp - but Joy cuts the pain pretty well if you can find it smile.

Thanks! kiss love blackeyed

lol - I think WinAmp is trying to tell me something - "Never in my life" by mountain just popped up as I was writing this wink - since you probably don't know it the first line is "never in my life, did I found a girl like you" Not exactly good grammar but certainly I can agree with the message smile

Thanks...and it sold, so it's not working. But thanks for looking!!

I took a class over 3 years ago, and then didn't take another one. I started again in the fall and now it's become such a part of things that I find myself shimmying down the hallway and it takes no effort at all to pick up my drum and start to play a beat. It's so very good for your body too - makes you use and limber up muscles that you don't use nearly enough. smile

Good luck finding a class and the music. I can give you the beat the way I was taught it:

Doum Doum Tec Ca Tec Doum Tec Ca Tec Tec Ca

The Doums are accomplished by hitting the drum in the middle and the Tec is hitting one hand's fingers on the edge of the drum to the side, and the Ca is hitting the other hand's fingers on the edge of the drum at the top. The 'Doum' is very deep and bass-like, making me want to hip drop all the way 'round the room. smile I hope that made some sense to you. It seems that actual musical notation doesn't really exist, it's mostly in terms of Doums, Tecs, and Cas...

I think I understand the final, third, maternal sentiment more than your two earlier revelations. I must just not be as sharp as I think I am.
