Listening to the new Nirvana boxed set With The Lights Out title taken from Smells Like Teen Spirit lyrics. This is a very rare/demo heavy collection and basically just gathers some of the best in a huge 3 disk set. I feel that only about one disk worth is even worth listening to, not all from the same disk however. I just feel that a lot of this is not stuff that was ever meant to be heard and feel like some sort of dirty voyeur. I downloaded the entire set today while I was readingit took forever and I have just got done listening through every second of it. Anyways Ill still go buy this on Tuesday for the book and DVD at least. Old Age Token Eastern Song Opinion Oh The Guilt Gallons Of Rubbing Alcohol Flow Through The Strip all are great and its wonderful to finally hear them all.
I have been thinking and I have real problems connecting with a girl romantically if she does not pass a few of my music & pop(?) culture prerequisites. What I mean to say is, if a person wants to have me at hello they must first:
*must know the names of all the members of The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Who, and Nirvana and know what instrument each member played.
*must know all of radioheads albums in order from earliest to most recent.
*must know that Kurt Cobain, Shannon Hoon, Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, Elliott Smith, Jeff Buckley, and Layne Staley are all dead and what their apparent causes of death were.
*must know which day of the week new cds are released to the public for sale.
*know at least 4 types red wine other than Merlot.
*must know at least 3 good brands of Gin.
*must know the rules and etiquette of roulette and black jack. And how to play cribbage, hearts, poker, and or gin rummy.
*must be able to tell what decade (preferably which half of the decade) a film was made.
*must be able to tell if a film was directed by, Jim Jarmusch, Cameron Crowe, Woody Allen, Kevin Smith, Stanley Kubrick, Alfred Hitchcock, or Spike Lee just by hearing the title and who is in said film.
*must know what the last book they have read is, who its by, and their opinion of so-called book.
*must know what sports are in season, not necessarily all the rules, but at least why there is a line at a bar/restaurant on Monday nights and such.
*must know at least who the president and vice president, the senators and the governor for the state the live in are.
*there are more but those are very important musts!

Sounds like an intresting boxed set... I used to have a Nirvana boxed set years ago,but its gone now... It had some Melvins tunes and some Meat Puppets tunes on it... damn, I wish I could remember that.
Ohh, I heard a Niravna sample used in a DNB song last month... Subfocus "X-Ray" snagged a loop from "Breed", and TOTALLY used it in a creative way, cuz its hard to tell it is from Nirvana, until you listen a few times...
