The term 'Jack of all trades, master of none' suites me ever so well, and I'm going to tell you why. Over the last month I've started my own business (Nerd Glaze), picked up about 7 pen pals, all while organizing the Minneapolis shoot fest, my birthday trip to Ohio/Hell City, being a full-time mom, starting my own blog, and making sad attempts at having a social life. I do not excel at one thing in life in particular, but instead many. (─‿‿─)
I discovered SuicideGirls in '07/'08 when I came across one of their books, and shortly after again in a magazine article. From that point on, I was in love. Over the years until I applied, I'd creep on SuicideGirls via the world wide web dreaming of one day becoming one myself. I've always been an outcast, weirdo, what have you. School was never easy for me, I bounced around a lot as a child (foster care, but that's another story) and even more-so as a teenager. Sidenote: I spent each year of High School in a different school. It wasn't until taking that first step towards becoming an official SuicideGirl by applying in 2010 that things really started coming together.
It wasn't until this time last year at Hell City that I stopped treading lightly around the idea of being involved in the community and straight up dove face first into everything and I haven't looked back since then. I've made so many memories, grown close with people when I'd made myself believe it was impossible, and most importantly I've learned to love myself. Every so often someone will get in touch with me and let me know that I've sparked that same selflove in them, and it is the most rewarding feeling next to watching my offspring learn and grow.
TL;DR - SuicideGirls has changed my life because they have given me the ability to be that spark of change for others, and for that I am forever grateful.
On to other matters...
Lately I've been really digging José González. I rediscovered this brilliant man after falling in love with the Walter Mitty soundtrack. If you're not familiar and you have good taste in music you should check out this song by him, since it's one of my favorites.
My birthday is coming up, and if any of you are feeling frivolous with your money you can checkout my wishlist here. If you buy anything make sure to include your address so I can send you something in return!
