My Atlanta travel diary:

Thursday:
-I slept in, threw a few things in my carry-on, and went to the airport in my godfather's plush ride.
-Met an adorable redhead on the plane (actually, as we were exiting, which was odd since we sat together).
-Marveled at all the trees and the gorgeous red & yellow leaves everywhere. Atlanta's still pretty.
-Got to ride in my brother's plush new ride to my mom's, where we all had a delicious homemade Thanksgiving feast that for once I wasn't involved in the production of.
-Went to my aunt & uncle's house in a fancy suburb and had even more food (we had to get a taste since my uncle's a chef) with my dad and his wife, who were in town from Houston.
-Came home and watched The Colbert Christmas Special with my brothers and the dogs.love

Friday:
-Woke up early and went shopping with my mom at Macy's, against my better instincts. She had to get some new blankets and things because she's entertaining 15, yes, 15 people visiting from Brazil in mid-December. I have no idea how our little house is going to hold everyone, and neither does she.
-Met up with my dad and stepmom to do more shopping; allowed my generous stepmom to buy me new perfume but bought my own knee-high stiletto boots. Yum!
-Got to see a bunch of work friends at the bakery, where we had a late lunch and gelato. They had my favorite flavor, passion fruit! My work peeps miss me, which is always nice.smile
-Went out dancing with a girlfriend. We started out at a bluesy dive bar, where we were hit on by old men and some Marines. Ended up at a lounge/dance club where we didn't intend to spend all night, but were held hostage by the entire pick-up artist community in Atlanta (at least that's what it felt like). We're still famous for hanging out with Matador when he was in town.blush At least we got free drinks! Met a cute Asian dude but...well, he's a PUA.puke

Saturday:
-Went to the original Chik-Fil-A, the Dwarf House, in Hapeville, hoping for a chicken biscuit. Discovered Chik-Fil-A sauce, whatever it is, is delicious on an original sandwich.
-Baked a cake! Finally!love I made my dad a German chocolate cake for his birthday.
-Got together with the SGATLiens for drinks at Apres Diem. Got to see lots of people I missed, like Llona, Morgan, Lewicide, Colinism, and a few others who met me at mjq later for dancing.love
-Had the house to myself for the night, so had a boy over in my huge, comfy bed. Bloodsport was on cable-such a classic!

Sunday:
-Drove to Columbus with my Brazilian grandma, my dad, and my stepmom to visit my Southern grandpa. We had my dad's birthday dinner at Red Lobster (don't knock it) and then went to see my Southern grandma's grave at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery across the Chattahoochee in Alabama. The weather suddenly cleared up when we got there, and the leaves were gorgeous. It was peaceful.
-Walked to the Carson McCullers house and took pictures, carefully (looks like someone lives there). Admired my grandpa's old books and wished I had a place for them with me.
-Had late-night breakfast with a friend from the bakery.
-Had a tawdry night at a motel with a boy.blush

Monday:
-Spent time with my dad and stepmom, mostly hanging out and looking for souvenirs.
-Crashed out early thanks to the lovely cold I have now. Missed out on hanging out with more friends.frown

Today:
-Slept in my big comfy bed as long as possible, with Sherlock. Finished a book. Got ready to go, and rode to the airport with my mama.love

I'm tired!

WTF snow? I just got heavily snowed/sleeted on during a quick walk from Smithsonian to restaurant. So how does an Atlantean/Luso-American cope with all this frozenness so early in the year? You tempted to head to sunnier climes?
