So xmas went over pretty well. Even though I'm broke I managed to at least get my parents something small. A little horse statue for my dad, he collects them, and a poem I wrote and framed for my mom. He liked his, hers made her cry, and then say that it was the best gift she's ever gotten. So it went over pretty well. I don't like posting my writing online usually, but she already put it on facebook so it's here if you want to read it.

For My Mother
Maybe I havent always been the best
And time after time I have fallen.
Really, I sometimes stumble more than one man should.
Yet throughout my life one thing has been constant.
Every time I felt myself slipping, you have always
Listened to my cries. You always had a smile,
Laughter, and a kind word to pick me up.
Even when I fought it, you still tried,
Never letting me down.
Always, you are right, something I really should remember.
Knowing you has been a battle,
And yet still I can say that I love you.
My hope is that you will always be
One of the greatest sources of happiness to me.
Mom, thank you for everything.
No one ever notices, but the first letters of each line spell out her name. Mary Ellen aka Mom.
