It feels good to be writing again. I don't know what happened, but something just clicked today and I started working on a short story. I was at school, saw this guy walking up to the building, and my mind just went off telling his story. So without missing a beat I got my little notebook out and scribbled down some notes. I need to get out more. At some point I forgot that my role as a writer is to be an observer. I need to people watch again, so that my crazed mind can do what it did today and give them stories. i used to do that all the time before I first started writing, and only now have i realized the importance of it.
Learning a lot about Keats in this class, and I swear we're kindred spirits. In one of his letters he mentions that he hadn't written anything in a while and how much it was taking a toll on him. A quick sonnet gave him his fix for the moment, but he feels better writing. And good God I can honestly say that i know that feeling.
i haven't even finished the story, but I already feel a bit better than I have in a while.
