finally. sleep.

So now that I've napped, I have a new perspective on my dilemma: what's a guy with no clothes supposed to do in LA for 24 hours. It's chilly and raining, so I can safely rule out streaking or any such nonsense.

boned. again.

That layover is going to be spent sitting around in a hotel room in a bathrobe of questionable origin, because the airline lost my bags...again. Twice in the same trip! This has to be a record. 30 hours of sitting in a plane getting funky and have nothing to change in to. couple that with not having slept more than 45 minutes in the...

30 hours in Los Angeles. What's a guy to do? Already booked a hotel based on its proximity to a taco stand and an In&Out Burger. got to keep my priorities straight!

Trying to tell me something, New Zealand?

Last week i was rambling on about my history with natural disasters (earthquakes!) in this country, but Sunday the weather out did itself. I was zoning out playing Minecraft (because...uh...yeah) and the winds got really crazy--which is saying something, because it's always stupid windy here. Then it got LOUD. I look out the window and there's 1/2"-3/4" hail...

good news, i'm missing more nasty winter weather at home. bad news, i probably won't see home for another three weeks.

however, i'm still in NZ--so that's a bonus. i've managed to visit all my favorite old restaurants and tried a couple new ones. i miss the hell out of some of the old bars and the places that never...

I'm from new york and they've gotten like two feet of snow over the last week or so (and more on the way!), but I'm working in New Zealand (and McMurdo Station Antarctica). I come down most every year--but about 3 years ago they had a series of earthquakes that leveled a huge part of the city center and made a mess of the suburbs. Just my luck, the biggest of the quakes happened while I was here. The city is slowly coming back, but a lot of the land can't be rebuilt on (it turned into something like quicksand) so a lot of businesses are moving out toward the airport where I work.

at the ends of the earth...again

once again, i'm roaming the bottom of the world. came close to seeing the first sunset in the antarctic--it was trying real hard, but just not quite yet. there's also a video of some orcas tooling around looking for a snack. some days i long for a "normal" job, but where else do you have to be put on hold for penguins or...

Hey everyone! Finally back in the country for the rest of the year. Greenland remains one of the most depressing, yet frequently beautiful (in an odd way) that I've ever been. Since it has two seasons : snow and mosquitoes, catching a rare week of nice weather this last trip was awesome. Looks like New Zealand and the Antarctic are out again for winter, but...
