I was in rapture yesterday. Went to the James Michenar Museum to see the "Offering of the Angels: Treasures from the Uffizzi Gallery" exhibit.
Wow.
Lately I have been seeing a lot of late 19th early 20th century art and the "Visions of Arcadia" exhibit at the Philadelphia Museum of Art but the Uffizzi Gallery show was 1500's to 1600's art in all its majesty. Titian, Tintoretto and the influence of the de Medici's.
Wondrous, moving, uplifting and revelatory.
A fine afternoon indeed!
