THE BLOOD TRAVELS

10) Certainly tonight the death would come. He had felt it many nights before.
Surprisingly more in his youth. As he matured the fear grew less. Oddly enough when the fear resided so did the frequency. This poised an interesting question. Was fear brought on by the death or death brought on by the fear. It would seem to him that at some unknown moment an inkling of death or fear is released and one feeds on the other until a green mass of fear and death fills the body. The mind. His only defense is he has convinced himself he no longer fears death. Youth has passed for the most part. Death becomes a man. It does not go to well with youth. He had not felt death in a while. Strangely enough he had that thought earlier that day. Some thing jarred his memory and he thought I have not experienced that fear in quite some time. Sure enough that was all it took to stir it up. Death will quietly wait in the shadows but it will not be patronized. Such a delicate balance. To find the amount of fear needed to keep death at bay without living in fear and having periods where you are allowed to forget. The clarity you are allowed in those times when you are balanced is worth the struggle. He thought about that, Perhaps you overload on death when the drive to struggle no longer exists. Either way in extreme cases the thought process on the idea itself was enough to pull him out of the throws of an imagined death. Of course he knew he was far from the first to such ideas and fears about death. All the more reason to go through them was his feeling about that. Fear of death is as necessary as the drawing of breath.
