Up With the Birds
I got up this morning, a little distracted as I usually am by what I can do and what I need to do soon. I stumbled out of the bed, careful not bang my poor misshapen toe on the corner like I sometimes do, and hobbled to the back door. The dogs barked happily because I'm up early this morning, too early if you ask me, and they want to go outside and play. I slide the glass back and Woosh! a blast of cool air smacks me in the face. It was sometime around this moment when I started to smile. Oh yes, a real smile! It's finally cooling down in Florida and I can breathe. I rushed around the house, opening the three windows that actually have screens on them and propping fans in the sills. Now, the house is nice and chilly. I'm drinking coffee at 6am with a blanket on my lap and watching the dogs play with their toys in the living room. It's a decent morning. The cool weather always lifts my spirits a little.
This coming Friday is Screamfest horror convention in Orlando Florida. I'll be performing there with the Vaudevillains Burlesque at 7pm. The convention is big, but not so huge that you can't see everything you want to in a weekend. This years guests include John Carpenter and Robert Englund among many many other famous faces in the horror world. If you're in the area, it's something you won't want to miss. Plus, my act is spectacular- if I do say so myself, and I do.
I've been working on a few new ideas for books lately and it seems like every time I find something I really like and it starts to get interesting, I get stuck and I can't figure out where I want the story to go next. So, right now I have about 6 books with 3-6 chapters each on my thumb drive and I don't know which one I want to work on or if I just want to start yet another one. I guess this is what you call writer's block. If you have an interest in what I'm talking about and haven't read any of my work yet; you can find it on Writer's Caf (Click here to see LillithVain's page). I have some things up that you can read without being a member of the site and others that you can only read if you are a member. If you like reading at all, I suggest you register. They don't ever spam you or anything and you can read all you want to. I post blogs on there as well as stories and the like.
As for more upcoming shows, I'll be in NY performing with the band Room Full of Strangers Oct 18-24 or something around those lines. I'll post actual show dates soon. I will have a day off in the midst of all the craziness, so if you live in the area and want to feed me I am a sucker for free food .
Right now that's all my show dates for October and I have nothing at all planned for November yet, though it is my birthday on the 10th. I want to somehow save up enough money that I can go to Olympia state park and stay on the beach for storm season. I want to sketch the fog and stuff rolling up the water. Right now I have no money, so I'm pretty sure that will be just another pipe dream, but hey I can try.
What are you reading right now? I'm deficit for books yet again. I have read everything I have, some twice, and everything people let me borrow.
Someone explain to me why my electric bill is almost 300 dollars a month? I don't leave lights on or things plugged in when I'm not using them. I don't run the AC very cold. I have dark heavy curtains to keep the sun out, my floors are concrete, and I have a brand new water heater. And, they just came and installed new meters because they are 'raising' the prices yet again. It's insane. I'd install my own solar power if I knew how. God knows we get enough sun here.
But, I'm done complaining because it's nice and cool this morning and I have an excuse to drink hot coco.
Chow Everyone.
